On 7th November 2026, Anthony ‘Reco’ — Chef at Mainstay DRP — will celebrate his 50th birthday by jumping out of a plane to raise money for Mainstay DRP’s Pay It Forward Fund and Silent Cuts Hair Salon.
Yes. Really.
Most people mark turning 50 with a meal out or maybe a weekend away. Anthony decided to throw himself out of an aircraft instead.
And honestly? It makes perfect sense when you hear why.
“I’ve always wanted to do a skydive, so turning 50 felt like the right time to finally go for it. If it can also help raise money for Silent Cuts and support people who need a little extra understanding and care, then it’s worth every second of the nerves,” Anthony said.
Anthony is raising money to support Silent Cuts, Mainstay DRP’s sensory-aware salon in Downpatrick. It’s a place designed for autistic people, people with learning disabilities, and anyone who may find a traditional salon overwhelming.
Because what seems simple to many of us — getting a haircut — can feel anything but simple for someone dealing with sensory overload, anxiety, or unfamiliar environments.
Silent Cuts was created to change that.
The salon offers calm, one-to-one appointments, extra time, and support that helps people feel comfortable, respected, and in control. The Pay It Forward Fund helps make sure cost is never a barrier to accessing that support.
For Anthony, this skydive is about doing something that matters.
