Mainstay Clients Begin Empower U Training

We’re excited to share that eight Mainstay clients have been taking part in the Empower U: Developing the Best Version of You programme since 23rd September, marking an exciting step forward in building confidence, skills, and future job opportunities. Empower U covers personal development, workplace skills, employability, and practical skills linked to real job sectors such as retail, hospitality and administration. Participants are taking part in face-to-face group sessions, designed to be supportive and adapted to suit everyone taking part. The programme is delivered in partnership with Usel.

At the end of the programme, participants will receive a certificate at a special Celebration Event on 19th December at the Burrendale Hotel, recognising their achievements.

The training helps prepare clients for work placements, job-tasting experiences and future employment by building core skills at a pace that suits them.

What participants say:
“The course is good. It teaches me how to talk to customers.” – Robert

Why This Matters

In Northern Ireland:

  • 1 in 5 people have a disability
  • Only one in three disabled people are in work
  • 7 in 10 disabled people currently out of work have worked before

Empower U helps close this gap by removing barriers, building confidence and creating inclusive pathways into training and employment.
